Oh hey Jackson! How's life as the NMSA's Executive Secretary? Awesome? Awesome.
Jackson is so cool, you guys. He's a 24 year old Senior here at BYU from Arlington, MA and is studying Political Science as well as Nonprofit Management and Civic Engagement Leadership who loves to read and can perform Daveed Diggs' "Guns and Ships" rap from "Hamilton." Too cool, huh?
His plan for the future is to work professionally in the Nonprofit Sector as a grant writer, social media manager, and more! He's on the board for a few reasons: "Aside from providing much-needed hours for the CNP certification and a strong resume builder, I wanted to get a taste of how a nonprofit board operates first-hand." From this experience along with others throughout his college career involving the Nonprofit Sector, he will be able to excel. "The way I see it, if I'm devoting 8-9 hours a day, 5 days a week to a job, I want that time and energy to serve a higher purpose rather than solely focusing on making money. I want my professional life to contribute to solving problems that plague the world."
Jackson wants to encourage you all to take advantage of the internship fair coming up this month (October). He attended in 2016 and was able to arrange two different internships as a result, so he knows how beneficial of an activity the fair is!
Come say hi to Jackson and the rest of the board at our activities. :) For questions or inquiries, email us at email@example.com. See you soon!
Meet Brittany, our Vice President!
Brittany is a 23 year old Senior from Loomis, CA studying Economics, Nonprofit Management and Sociology so she can be a Grant Writer and eventually get her MPA in Nonprofit Management. Her favorite thing to do in her spare time is simply to spend time with her husband (aw!), and a fun fact about Brittany is that she likes to make little videos of family vacations and funny moments. Gotta capture the memories! She loves using her skills to lessen human suffering, which is why she is so interested in Nonprofit Organizations and working in the Nonprofit Sector! She has been on the NMSA Board previously, so when asked why she decided to be on the board this year, she said,
"I enjoyed being the internship coordinator last time and working with so many great people. I really think the club has potential to grow and I want to help it grow to serve more people and educate others about careers in nonprofits."
Brittany is really passionate about the NMSA and it's purpose, and would encourage you all to come check us out! She says, "we're awesome and I've never met so many down to earth people." Seriously though, Brittany IS awesome, and she's right - we are really down to earth, so come join the NMSA and make a difference!
